Why do we need a SlutWalk in Vancouver?

Because victim blaming and shaming create a culture that makes excuses for perpetrators of assault.

Because calling a woman a slut based on her appearance presupposes that women who dress provocatively are worth less, and deserve less protection.

These two things combined obscure the fact that sexual assault is an equal opportunity offense.

Thanks to TO for starting this off. Now it is Vancouver’s job to start this conversation on the West Coast!
